Details - Interactive Blues Harp Workshop CD-ROM
(Voggenreiter 1998, revised edition 2006)
Steve Baker (book & music), Bertram Becher & Siegi Genschow (concept & program)
In late 1997 Steve was approached by two post-graduate students at the university of Münster who had developed a program for a harmonica instruction CD-ROM. Intrigued by the unique possibilities of multi-media teaching aids, Steve agreed to write the book and play all the musical examples used in it. Voggenreiter recognized the potential of the idea when it was presented to them in summer 1998 and immediately agreed to publish it. The first harmonica instruction CD-ROM in the world was released in November of that year. It is divided into several theoretical and practical sections and covers a wide range of subjects, making it suitable as a tutor for the absolute beginner while also containing much material of interest to advanced players. The emphasis is on "hands on" information designed to get you playing right from the start. In other respects it goes beyond the scope of the Harp Handbook, containing a considerable amount of "state of the art" information not available elsewhere, as well as an extensive section of exercises ranging from playing your very first note on the instrument to advanced techniques such as bending and overblowing. All exercises are written in tablature and explained in the accompanying text. They can be heard by clicking on "play", either one time through or as a loop which you can practise to. There are also simple electronic playalongs which can be transposed into a variety of keys. Languages: English and German.
System requirements: PC 486/66 onwards, minimum 16MB RAM, Windows 3.x, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows ME and Windows XP. For further information or to place an order, visit Voggenreiters website at: http://www.voggenreiter.de
